Announcing Our Next Show:
By Scott Z. Burns
The Gestalt Theatre Project follows the success of its recent production of
Martin McDonogh's "The Pillowman" with the West Coast Premiere of "The Library,"
a new play by Scott Z. Burns. Caitlin Gabriel awakens in the hospital after surviving
a deadly shooting at her high school to find that a different story is being told of the
horrific incident than the one she remembers. The media, the authorities and
an increasingly hostile public seem unwilling to hear Caitlin's voice. "Toxic dread
floods the opening minutes of 'The Library,'" wrote Ben Brantley in his April 15, 2014
New York Times review. "And good luck to the audience member who prefers not
to be disturbed. We're scared, we're dazzled, we're hooked. And then the panic subsides.
Like the characters onstage, we're left looking for patterns in the chaos."
